Is it time for you to escape the grind, get out of the house and into nature to clear your head, move that body, and build camaraderie with other like-minded men? 

At Sanctuary Weekend, you’ll get to the opportunity to connect with other men around a variety of interests such as hiking, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, archery, ax throwing, Jam Band room, craftsman’s lodge, disc golf, open pit cooking, bushcrafting, late night DnD or poker, napping in a hammock, and enjoying the crackling of a campfire while hanging with interesting guys. 

Whatever you enjoy doing there’s a spot here for you and a a space to do nothing more than be yourself. Leave the gear and food to us, you show up for the fun.

What You Will Find

The weekend will have multiple opportunities for men to build camaraderie around various activities including canoeing, rock climbing, zip line, hatchet throwing, archery, low-high ropes course, horseback riding, fishing, guided or free hiking, mountain biking, music, yoga or just hanging out in a hammock.

Whether you wish to connect to your Mind, Body, or Soul, there is something at Sanctuary for you.

The weekend will also feature hearty, healthy, homemade food. Dietary restrictions will be accommodated as much as possible.

In other words, quality humans contributing to a dynamic and engaging world. We will come together to create a unique and memorable weekend–our sanctuary.

Where You Will Be

Sanctuary Men’s Weekend will take place along the sprawling Des Moines River Valley just outside of Boone Iowa at the Des Moines Y Camp. Located about 45 minutes northwest of Des Moines, Iowa our sanctuary is nestled over 100 acres of woodland landscape originally inhabited by the Ioway people.

The present day camp has been in existence for 100 years and has multiple buildings with cabins and lodges built as recently as this year and the 1930s.
